Congratulations to Recent IDM Graduates
Congratulations to those students who completed their degree and graduated in December of 2008 and April of 2009.
Raghupathy Anchala, MPH (BID concentration)
- Faculty at the Indian Institute of Public Health in Hyderabad India.
Kevin Brown, PhD
- Post-doctoral associate at the NIH in Maryland.
Bridget Calhoun, DrPH
- Continuing to serve as the Department Chair of the Physician Assistant Department at Duquesne University.
Sara Chadwick, MPH (BID concentration)
- Will begin the GSPH Human Genetics MS Genetic Counseling program in the fall.
Ayan Chakrabarti, MS
- Currently employed in IDM as a Research Specialist III.
Ashish Gupta, MPH (CBI concentration)
- Gaining further experience teaching and is one of the instructors for the Prevention, Treatment and Cure of Global Infectious Diseases, a new course taught for the first semester in the department.
Sheri Hathaway, MPH (CBI concentration)
- Currently nurse at UPMC Presbyterian hospital. This fall will begin working in Saudi Arabia for Aramco as a senior professional nurse.
Heather Hensler, PhD
- Post-doctoral associate in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago
Adam Soloff, PhD
- Post-doctoral associate in the Center for Vaccine Research at the University of Pittsburgh.
Jay Venkatachari, PhD
- Visiting Fellow HIV Drug Resistance Program NCI-Frederick beginning in June.
Kristina Williams, MPH (CBI concentration)
- Currently seaching for a job in the public health sector.

Congratulations to Delta Omega Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Awardees
Each year departments at GSPH select & nominate one outstanding master's level thesis, MS or MPH, and one outstanding doctoral dissertation, DrPH or PhD. This year's nominees & winners are Kevin Brown and Shaylee O'Leary. Kevin graduated in December of 2008 and is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the NIH. His dissertation was titled "Dendritic cell dynamics in blood and lymphoid tissues during pathogenic simian immunodeficiency virus infection" and completed under the guidance of her advisor Dr. Simon Barratt-Boyes. Shaylee was a June 2008 graduate and completed her thesis, "Transcriptional Regulation of Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha by Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 Vpr" under the guidance of Dr. Velpandi Ayyavoo. She is currenlty employeed at Cook MyoSite as a Product Development Associate.
