Research Summary

After closing his office and laboratories, Dr. Atchison accepted an invitation to perform research and learn chromosome typing at Magee-Womens Research Institute. After a fifteen-month stint at Magee, Dr. Atchison accepted another invitation from Children's Hospital to operate a laboratory that focused on molecular diagnostic research and development, as well as electron microscopy, and until the present, served as a virology consultant.

After serving science and being an electron microscopist productively for so many years, Dr. Atchison has now happily returned to working as a professional photographer (weddings, portraits and group pictures), which he was before earning his Ph.D. He still takes professional pictures at friend's weddings and has done a number of portraits, as well as one departmental group picture for his enjoyment. He also resumed his oil painting efforts, mainly doing still life compositions of flowers, particularly his orchids which he grows, and now is painting portraits, which allows him to make use of his film and digital photography efforts.
