Meet with your first year advisor prior to registering for classes
|
Advisors are listed on the GSPH admission letter. In the event that you need to locate your advisor, please contact Robin Leaf at ral9@pitt.edu. Your advisors signature is required on the registration form.
First year students are requested to follow, as closely as possible, the recommended schedules available on the registration page.

Register for fall classes
|
Course registration is open to all students who have been matriculated. Completed registration forms for each of the degree programs are available on the registration Web page. The process of registering for classes is also outlined.

Obtain your University of Pittsburgh
ID card (Panther Card)
|
ID cards are issued at Panther Central in the Litchfield Towers Lobby. For more information on the free and discounted services of your ID card visit the Panther Card Web site.
Tip: in oder to reduce the wait time at Panther Central obtain your ID before August 20.

|

Attend GSPH and IDM Orientation
|
Mark your calendar for Friday August 28. Orientation takes place at GSPH and is an all day event. Further details are available on the GSPH Web site. All new students will also receive further details in late July from GSPH Student Affairs.

-Pittsburgh Neighborhoods
One of the most attractive features of the city of Pittsburgh, is its neighborhoods. Each
one is unique and offers different amenities visit www.coolpgh.pitt.edu/living/.
-Cost of Living
The cost of living in Pittsburgh is one of reasons why the city is attractive to graduate
students. Being voted the most livable city in the U.S. by Places Rated Almanac this
year, is a testament to why Pittsburgh is such an amazing city. To assist you in your
transition to Pittsburgh, a cost of living calculator is available at

University Services
-Fitness Centers
Your Panther Card allows you access to numerous on-campus fitness centers. A list of
campus fitness facilities is available online.
-Computing Services
Local Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) is the comprehensive service
center for the University of Pittsburgh’s computing support and systems development
environment. The services include a 24-hour help desk, operation of six campus
computing labs, free and reduced price software to students, and e-mail accounts for
students. For a full description of CSSD’s services, consult their Web page at
http://technology.pitt.edu.
-Computer Discounts for Students
Through an agreement between the University of Pittsburgh and computer vendors
Apple, Dell, Gateway, and Lenovo students are eligible for discounts on computer
purchases. Visit www.pitt.edu/computer/ for further details and links to the vendors’ Web
sites.
-Software for Students
CSSD provides students with free and low cost software for more than 15 software
applications and packages. These include Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office
(for PC and Mac), Adobe, Corel, SPSS, and Symantec anti-virus. A complete list of the
software and the cost is available on CSSD’s Software Web site. Also, each fall
semester students are eligible to receive a free software tool kit from CSSD containing
the most up-to-date antivirus and security software.
-Wireless Access on Campus
The University of Pittsburgh will soon have wireless access in all campus buildings.
Parran and Crabtree halls, home to GSPH, do have wireless access. Further information
on the wireless system and how to access it are available on CSSD’s wireless Web site.
-Cultural Events
Through the University students are eligible for free and low-cost tickets to multiple
cultural events. Free events include admission to the Carnegie Museums of Natural
History and Art, the Warhol Museum, and The Mattress Factory. Further information is
