The Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Public Health Scholarship is the first formal scholarship given by IDM since the
department was created by division of the Department of Epidemiology and Microbiology in the early 1970s.
Each year,
one incoming MS student and one incoming MPH student will be awarded the scholarship of $1,000 of
unrestricted funds. Awards will be made based on academic record and promise.
Funds for this new scholarship are provided exclusively from the department’s Bob Yee Fund. We urge all of our alumni,
faculty, staff, students and friends to donate to this fund.

The Cancer Federation of Banning, California, has given the department $7,000 to establish a scholarship in honor of Dr. Aurelia Koros. The Federation funded Dr. Koros’ research for over 20 years.
The Federation was founded in 1977, and is a not-for-profit organization that provides information, counseling, educational materials and meetings for cancer patients, their families and friends. In over 25 years, the Cancer Federation has supported research projects on various cancer-related issues, including Dr. Koros’ work on small cell lung cancer and natural killer cells.
The department is currently developing a program for this scholarship to benefit our graduate students.
